Forest School

We went for a big walk down to the river this week! And then up the hill again:
We continued with our Little Red Riding Hood drama, ordering numbers, cooking up some delicious food in the "house"  and playing games. See the album here.

Miró-inspired paintings

We're really proud of the creativity children in K3 have demonstrated - lots of brilliant shapes and lines, often with a real sense of rhythm in the picture, and then really thoughtful and careful painting!

Most of you have seen the work up at school, but you can also see albums of the two classes' finished work, here for K3G and here for K3H.

GLOUPS

This is a post from the French Department:

Miró-inspired paintings

We're using little brushes to very carefully paint pictures in the style of Miró's Constellations.

Bouchka!

The two classes went this week to the Petit Théâtre Saint-Exupère (part of Odyssud arts centre, Blagnac) with K3G to see a play called Bouchka. There were two actors, who used masks and puppets to tell the story of how Bouchka got really sad, and then cheered up again.

Where should the numbers go?

In K3G we're not sure about something. Maybe you can help?

We started with all the numbers from zero to ten at the bottom of the board. Then one by one we moved them up to the line.

O and 1 and 2 were moved up to the left:
Then we moved 9 and 10 to the right:
More went to the left and right:
Soon we were left with just 5 to put on:
Now we're really not sure where to put 5!

So, some thought 5 should go with the small numbers, some thought it should go with the big numbers, and some thought it should go in the middle!

What do you think?

Forest School

This week we made faces with clay, practised tying knots, and did all sorts of play. There were lots of mushrooms and worms in the forest, now that it's damper.

An album of photos here.

Thanks, as ever, to the parents who came with us!

Making Bread

We've been getting to know the story of the Little Red Hen really well in K3.
Have a look at the album of photos.

Here's Pie Corbett telling the story:

Which One Doesn't Belong? - with pattern blocks

This week we looked at this picture and asked, "Which one doesn't belong?" and "Why?"

You'd be amazed by how many reasons K3 could find that one of them is the odd one out! - and how good they were at explaining in their own words!

Making "trains" the same length as the black Cuisenaire rod

We're getting good at this, making "trains" just the right length. This week it was trains the same length as the black rod. We made them first, then we wrote them in our books.

You can do this online - using this page:
