Our visit to Truffaut

We walked over to Truffaut this morning. We had the challenge of identifying different animals and plants, and counting how many of the different kinds of animals there were.
The fish were impossible to count - there were so many of them and they kept moving - so we made an estimate.
Back at school, we had time before lunch to talk about which of all the animals we'd like to have at home for a while:

Camouflaged animals

On Friday, the children were inquiring about why some animals camouflage themselves to their surroundings.

They then used their own fictitious animal and camouflaged it to their chosen background.
See an album of our work.

iPads in K3

In K3, the children have access to a dozen iPads between the classes. We use various apps that cover our PYP UOI as well as ones for math and literacy.

Pezzettino... and friends

Today we read Pezzettino to the classes. All the creatures in the book are (sort of) made of squares. We made our own animals with square tiles.
We thought about how a small creature might grow.
It's interesting to look carefully at how these are growing. For instance, the one just above. Children worked out what the third stage would be like from seeing how the animal grew!
